david gray | mutineers album review…

I’ll be honest and admit that I had never heard of David Gray before I was approached about reviewing his newest album, Mutineers, in exchange for a free advance copy from One to One Network.  Of course this is only my opinion – and I am not a music expert…not even close!

One2One | David Gray Mutineers

I’m always on the lookout for some good “background” music to play while I work, so I opted in. I’m really glad I did!  This music is perfect for playing while I’m designing and writing.  It’s soothing and relaxing and beautiful. If you’re looking for some nice, fresh music, I’d definitely recommend it!

You can pre-order the album on iTunes or Amazon.  The album is available on June 17, 2014.  :)

making memories–a patriotic layout for bella blvd…

Good Wednesday morning!  Today I wanted to share a layout I created for the Bella Blvd. blog earlier this week.  My assignment was to create a patriotic layout, using the Lucky Starz collection,  to share on Memorial Day.  These photos were taken last year at a small town 4th of July rodeo our family attended.

You can read more about my layout HERE on the Bella Blvd. blog.  In addition to the Lucky Starz Papers, I added some chipboard and flags from an older Bella Blvd. collection called “All American.”

I used my favorite mini-stapler to add a bit of detail.  It’s called a “tiny attacher.”  Do you have one of these staplers yet?  I LOVE it!

I also used another favorite tool, my Silhouette Cameo, to cut out the shape of the USA before adding letter stickers…I just love the detail of this cut (you can find the shape here in the Silhouette store).

Thanks for stopping by today – I hope you have a GREAT day!! :)

what a wonderful day, the card…

What do you get when you combine the Decorative Corners Die Set by Top Dog Dies with bits and pieces leftover from a Studio Calico Kit or two?

Well…maybe something that looks like this:

As soon as I saw these gorgeous Decorative Corner dies, I knew I wanted to use them to make beautiful butterfly wings!

I cut the wings from a subtle patterned paper, then I added the badges to the tops and I broke apart one of those cute tiny clothespins to make the body!

Of course, there’s machine stitching around the edges and a few stickers added with foam adhesive dots with baker’s twine wrapped behind.

Thanks for stopping by today – have a great Monday!

homework…a layout for bella blvd.

Good morning!  Do you have daily rituals or routines that you have neglected to photograph and/or document?  Chances are, if you have children, many of your afternoons are filled with a scene similar to this:wendysueanderson_bellablvd_homework_layout_warm

I love documenting the “every day” happenings – things that aren’t necessarily spectacular, but little bits and pieces that make up our daily lives.  Homework is definitely one of those things – at least for 9 months of the year!  My kids are counting down the days (there are only a few) until this ritual will end for a few months…it will be replaced with lots of playing and sunshine and water – yay for summer break!!

This layout was up on the Bella Blvd. blog last week (here).  Here are a few of the details:

I used products from their new mid-release collections (all of the products are linked below).  I just love these fun letter stickers – the font is so playful and fun!

I love the bright, happy, clean colors – they make even the most simple photos come to life!

Thanks for stopping by – I hope you are having a great week so far!

pre-school graduate | a layout for doodlebug design…

As I created this layout for my Doodlebug assignment recently, I just couldn’t fathom that these photos of Zach were taken 3 whole years ago…it’s crazy how fast time has flown by.  I’m so grateful for photographs and scrapbooks to help me remember all of the fun (and some of the not-so-fun) events in the life of my family…

wendysue_doodlebug_the_graduates_layout3This layout was featured on the Doodlebug Design blog earlier this week – it features “The Graduates” collection (available for purchase HERE)!

Doodlebug Design - The Graduates Collection - 12 x 12 Paper Pack - The Graduates

What?  This collection doesn’t look like the same one I used on my layout?

Doodlebug Design - The Graduates Collection - Sprinkles - Self Adhesive Stars - GraduationDoodlebug Design - The Graduates Collection - Cardstock Stickers - Icons

Well, that’s the beauty of this collection – it’s made up of neutral colors – black, white, silver, gold – and then you can add whatever colors you want to make it work with your photos or school colors or whatever you wish!

I perused my Doodlebug collection and found lots of orange papers and elements to use on my page.

I love how it all worked together to create a cohesive page, where you’d never guess all the items weren’t “meant” to go together.

And now I can’t believe we’re nearing the end of another school year.  This little pre-school graduate is wrapping up his 2nd grade year.  And our daughter will be a senior in high school next year.  Crazy.  It seems like she was just graduating from pre-school!

Thanks for stopping by – have a great Friday!! :)
