It's the first day of December. I should have my Christmas tree up. My house should be decorated for the holidays. My Christmas cards should be addressed and ready to send out. My shopping list should have most of the items crossed off. I should have gifts wrapped. My house should smell like cinnamon, pine, baked treats and/or vanilla.
Guess what? I haven't done any of it. Nothing. Nada. Zippo.
The tree is still downstairs in storage, along with the decorations. I haven't even thought about what I'm doing for my cards. I haven't started making a list, let alone checking it twice! I haven't even bought wrapping paper. We're even in charge of a family christmas party in less than two weeks and I haven't sent invitations, made food assignments, or even decided what we're eating and doing.
Man...how can it be December 1st already???
Seriously, you'd think with all of the Christmas music I've been listening to, I'd have a better grip on the season.
I am going to go pull the Christmas Book Basket out tonight so I can read a book to the kids before bed tonight.
And tomorrow I might start making that list.
Maybe.
sigh...
i havn't done anything or thought about anything christmas related yet either. i do have my christmas cards here (not addressed though). but those weren't even thought out ... just happened to be at costco, they just happened to be on sale, and i just happened to have a decent family photo from thanksgiving. lol!
ReplyDeleteand that part about you listening to christmas music for the last few months totally cracked me up :)
I'll bet with prepping your house to list, you've been pretty busy (plus deadlines). I love the idea of a Christmas Book basket. :)
ReplyDeletegoodness girlfriend - hopefully you've done something since today! Its hard - i kinda for the first time have been on top of things - doesn't happen often though - good luck!
ReplyDeleteI know how you feel. My daughter got the flu 2 days after Halloween and ended up in the hospital the following week with severe pneumonia for 8 days. We're still trying to get back to "normal"! All i have is the tree up, just finished the outside decorations yesterday, and nothing else has been done yet. All of this stuff would normally be done before Dec 1st. I've adopted the attitude that I'll get what I can done, and enjoy the holidays!
