family layout | pebbles inc.

I shared a layout featuring my family and a little introduction of myself over on the Pebbles blog last week.  I thought I'd share here as well!

Hi Pebbles friends! I've been around for a while, but many of you haven't...so first of all - WELCOME! I'm Wendy Sue and I am a tried and true Pebbles fan! I love creating cards, layouts, and all things paper with the fun and beautiful designs created by the talented team at Pebbles! I thought I'd share a few tidbits about myself, along with a layout I created recently.

The most important part of my life...my whole life...are the people in this photo! My family. My husband. Three sons. One daughter. And one son-in-law.

We live in a high mountain valley in Utah. It's the beginning of June and there's still snow - just a hop, skip, and a jump away!! We love it here. We enjoy all things outdoors - hiking, biking, walking, swimming, boating - all the things!!

When I'm not outside, you can usually find me creating something fun with paper. Or reading a good book. Or baking my favorite cookies.

My degree (and my day job) is in accounting...so I'm pretty much working with paper in one way or another all the time. I also enjoy teaching people how to make beautiful projects, document their memories, and create cards to share with special people! Here's a quick little tutorial for the subtle little shaker box at the bottom of my layout (did you see it?).

Start by stitching two vellum "pockets" onto patterned paper. I trimmed this fun polkadot paper to 11" x 11" and added two pieces of vellum - one to the top and one to the bottom - the middle will be covered by the photo and coordinating paper later.

Make sure to leave the top part of the bottom piece open (stitch the left, bottom, and right edges only)

You can find some confetti, or use one of the puffy stickers from the collection (if you don't think you'll use it otherwise).

Cut open the sticker.

Pour in the confetti.

Now stitch along the top to close the shaker! And finish building the layout on top of it.

Thanks so much for stopping by today - I hope you're inspired to try something new. Come back soon!!

Family Tradition Layout | Pebbles Inc.

One of my resolutions for this year is to document some of the photos and memories that have been stacking up on my bookcase. The "This is Family" collection was a perfect match for documenting a photo taken a few years ago at my husband's annual winter family party!

This collection has a huge array of colors and patterns, but I wanted to keep it simple, so I chose black and white with pops of yellow and orange from the papers and embellishments.

There is obviously a variety of "family" themed pieces in this collection so it worked great for my needs.

You'll also spy a bit of machine stitching around the edges of the patterned papers - I just can't help myself! It's a fun way to add a bit of unexpected texture as well as a pop of color to a project.

Well, how about YOU? Do you have a stack of photos and memories waiting to be recorded and added to your albums? Why not start today? Grab a family photo and the "This is Family" collection and see what you can whip up! Your family will thank you!!

my guy…

One of my assignments for the Chickaniddy Blog this month was to create a layout  with the topic “Men in My Life.” Well, there's only one MAN in my life - my awesome husband.  (Yes, there are little men, our sons, but this one is all about my main squeeze!)  It's hard to get him in front of the camera, but I was happy to find these three photos from Spring Break last year.

He truly is my best friend - he has been for over 20 years now.  I'm so blessed to have his love and respect! And I'm super lucky that he supports my passion for scrapbooking, paper-crafting, and photography!  I'm the luckiest girl I know! ;)

Okay, less mushiness and more about this awesome paper!  I love using the foil papers to die-cut shapes with my Silhouette.  I wanted to cut a big heart to use on the background of my layout - but after I cut it out, I decided that I liked the negative space best - so I opted to use the silver foil paper for my background and let the patterned paper peek through the heart shape.

Of course I had to add machine stitching around the edges - the foil paper is lightweight, so it's easy to stitch right through it!

I also added lots of stickers - many of them have a bit of added dimension with foam dots behind them.

Be sure to visit the Chickaniddy Crafts Blog for loads of fun ideas – and some really great ways to use their new foil papers!

on a golden springtime…

I wanted to share this layout – I created it for Echo Park Paper and it was published in the April issue of Scrapbook Generation’s Create Magazine.

I was given a really fun sketch to work with – I love working with sketches.  Guess what?  You can download the magazine – AND all of the sketches – here.  And the best part…it’s FREE!

I loved being able to see how other gals interpreted the same sketch  -  it’s always so interesting to see how we can all start at square one – but end up at totally different final destinations!

Just for fun, here a few details from my pages:
