a funny...that's a little too true...

...this was in an e-mail from my mom. Hmmm....I wonder if she's trying to tell me something?!?
Unfortunately, I feel like this all too often - mostly when I'm up working in the wee hours of the morning. My poor family - I'm so glad they put up with me!

anybody want some stuff...

okay, I've been cleaning out and organizing, getting my cabinet filled and organized and I've come up with a lot of stuff that I'd love to share. I know there are lots of you out there lurking (secret hit counter -- bwaaahaaahaaa), but not posting comments! SO, if you'd like a fun goodie box full of scrapbooking stuff, leave a comment. I'll pick a random winner Wednesday morning. :o)

amazing entries...

The entries are up for round #3 of the Making Memories Scrapbook Idol Contest -- they are each so fun and unique. I'm glad I don't have to choose a winner by myself, all three contestants are so talented. It was hard to choose one to vote for! Go HERE to see the three entries and place your vote before midnight tonight. Then check in tomorrow to see the two designers who will be competing in the final round!

a great deal...

I almost forgot to share some fun news! If you are interested in purchasing a Scrap Box, go to their site or call {(801) 836-0615}to order one AND...if you tell them that you saw it on Wendy's blog, they'll give you a $50 discount! Gotta love a discount!! :o) If you live locally, you have an option to have it delivered to you (and even assembled, if you want)...and if you don't live locally, they'll ship it to you and you can put it together yourself. Building it is half the fun, right?!?

for my last post...

I'm not sure why...but this is the only way Blogger is allowing me to add photos -- here are some photos to go along with my last post -- the culprit of my sore thumbs (which are fine now) and a couple of pictures of the inside of my new baby! ;) I'm having so much fun loading this cabinet - I'll share more pics when Blogger is cooperative. Have a great Sunday! Posted by Picasa

fat lips and sore thumbs...

I got a phone call today, from Josh's school. Apparently, he had a head-on collision with another little boy after lunch and he got the worst of it. I hurried right to the school as soon as the secretary told me "his lip is really big, and black, and we can't get it to stop bleeding..." Yeah, just what every mom wants to hear. So I called the pediatician's office on the way to the school just to get a feel for things. Apparently, there's not much to do about cuts inside the mouth. They told me only to bring him in if (a) his tooth went completely through the skin to the outside, (b) if his tooth broke off inside his lip, or (c) if he had several teeth loose OR if I just wanted them to take a look. Luckily, when I got to the school, the bleeding had almost stopped. True, his lip was swollen and bruised, but it was definitely not as bad as I was picturing. My poor little guy was sitting in the little nurse's office holding an icebag on his huge, bleeding lip...but what broke my heart was his red, swollen, teary eyes. Sheesh, it was all I could do not to sit down and cry with him! We came home and feasted on popsicles and ice water...yum! Oh, and fruit-flavored Motrin for dessert (only for Josh, of course). Anyway, we opted not to visit the doctor since we didn't fall under any of the pre-approved categories AND I didn't think I needed them to look at it and tell me that it didn't fall under any of the pre-approved categories so go home and ice it and take some Motrin (that'll be 90 bucks, please). The swelling actually seemed to have gone down by the time he went to sleep. He asked me NOT to take a picture of it. He's a bit self-conscious about it. Otherwise, I'd share a photo of the biggest, bruised up, scraped up, sore-looking lip I've ever seen...I'm sure you're sad about that (not being able to see a picture, I mean)! ;)

So, I'm sure you're wondering who has sore thumbs...that would be me. Why, you ask? Well, because I spent several hours last night pushing these beauties into little holes. Not to worry though...it's worth it, because look what the holes were in:

(and wouldn't you know it...Blogger is not letting me add pictures tonight.
It figures, because I'm so excited to share. Oh well, I'll try to add them tomorrow.)

Yep, that's it! My new favorite piece of furniture. My very own ScrapBox!!! I am SO thrilled! The creator himself delivered it to my house yesterday and I still can't believe it's really mine. I've started stocking it up and organizing it...but it's far from finished. I'm hoping to have some time this weekend to really figure it out and make it work for me. I have some fun ideas, so hopefully they'll fall into place. Hopefully you won't mind my raving over the next little while because seriously, this is just making me SO happy right now. I've been needing some way to organize all of my scrapbooking "stuff" for so long and this is just perfect for me. :o)

two quick seconds...

...because I have some exciting things happening in the next few days. BUT, I wanted to share this cool find with you -- have you seen it? What do you think about it? Here's the website if you want to read more info. about it. :o) I saw it a few weeks ago when it was shown on Good Things Utah during the Scrapbook USA Expo here in Utah. As soon as I saw it, I knew I was in love! Let me know what you think of it...I've gotta run, but I'll be back with a little more fun news soon...

would you believe...

even MORE Halloween projects?!? Of course you would, because you know I LOVE it!! I did the challenge for this week on the Making Memories Blog. These little treat boxes were so fun to make and they look so cute sitting on my table right now -- even without treats inside, they make me happy!! If you make anything cute for Halloween, please send me a link, I'd LOVE to see!!

a few fun pictures...

...thought I'd share just a few of the pictures I took after we had our family pictures taken for Grandma's birthday...
As you can see, Seth was his usual "I'll be as uncooperative as possible if there's a camera pointed in my general direction" self. Oh well, at least we'll always remember this quirky little phase -- at least I hope it's just a phase! (Oh, and obviously, I didn't take the photo that I'm in...Rustin took that one -- thank you!)

Brad wasn't feeling well, so after the photographer finished our family shots, he went and laid down on the grass...of course, the kids took that as their que to run right over and climb on top of him. You can tell he's a good dad, 'cause he let them climb, and he just smiled (and let me take some pictures)...even though he felt like crud.

mmmmm....

....that's what you'll be saying about 20 minutes after you pop your pumpkin bread into the oven. It smells SO good...and tastes even better! :o)
I asked Angela if I could share her recipe on my blog, and she was happy to share, so here it is:

Pumpkin Bread/Muffins

1 c. sugar
½ c. brown sugar
1 c. oil
2 eggs

Mix together.

¼ c. water

1 c. pumpkin
Add and mix until pumpkin is well blended.

2 c. flour

1 t. baking soda
½ t. salt
½ t. nutmeg
1 t. cinnamon
¼ t. ginger
Sift together and add in:
1 c. chocolate chips
{Option variations:1 c. raisins or ½ c. chopped nuts}

Bake for 55 minutes at 350.
Cool in pan for 10 minutes then turn out onto rack to cool.
Makes 2 regular or 4 baby loaves.

So if you want your house to smell yum, yum, yummy and all "FALL-ish" ... bake this now!

another halloween project...

...see, I told you I was excited for autumn, and halloween, and all that comes with it. I believe I've also mentioned how much I'm loving the new Making Memories Halloween Line, which is why I was thrilled to create this layout for their website this month.

You can see a better image, a list of supplies and complete instructions by clicking HERE.

We're going to put out our halloween decorations later today, when the kids get home from school -- and my friend sent me the recipe for her yummy (in other words, I can eat a loaf all by myself, so I'll have to make 2 or 3) pumpkin bread -- I can't wait for my house to smell delicious!
