a stamped holiday ornament…a bit early…

Hi friends!  I know it’s still October, but I had to share this fun little holiday project I made this morning:

I have my Pandora Christmas music playing and a storm is rolling in – it’s making me SO happy today!

Aren’t those little paper strips fun?  I created them using a sweet holiday stamp set.   It’s from Technique Tuesday, as a part of the Studio AE Club  -  and it’s only available through October 31st…so If you like it, click on the image to see how you can purchase it – hurry though!!

I think it’s darling and I’m going to be using it on some pages and cards in the near future…so keep an eye out – but remember if you like the stamps, order them asap!  For today’s project, I wanted to create something a little bit non-traditional, as far as color scheme, so I chose some pretty papers from the Pebbles – The Front Porch Collection.

I stamped the label image several times on each of the papers and cut them out:

And added sentiments to them:

Next, I punched holes in the ends of every strip:

Then I stacked them up and attached them all together with a jewel brad from American Crafts:

After both ends were connected, I started spreading out the strips:

And ended up with this:

I think it turned out really sweet and I’ll be making more to add to my décor for the holidays:

a framed halloween banner | pebbles, inc…

Who’s ready for another Halloween project?  Me, me, me!  Today I want to share this framed Halloween banner I created using a fun new Halloween line, appropriately named “Thirty-One” by Pebbles.  I’m actually sharing over on the Pebbles blog (here) today, but I wanted to share it here as well – just in case some of you aren’t following the Pebbles blog…and if you aren’t, hopefully you’ll start – there are so many fun ideas shared there every single day!  Anyway…here’s a peek at my project:

I just love the little dracula and witch – they are stickers, but I added them to the banner with foam adhesive squares (black ones like these) because I wanted them to have some extra dimension!

I placed the entire framed piece on the wall in our entry – I just love switching out a few of the framed pieces for each holiday or season!

a thanksgiving layout | echo park paper co.

I know I’ve been doing a lot of holiday skipping around here on the blog – but such is my life.  You might be interested to know I finished a Valentine’s Day article and stack of Valentine’s Day projects two weeks ago – but don’t worry, I won’t be putting those on my blog just yet.;)

Today I wanted to share this Thanksgiving layout that I shared on the Echo Park Blog yesterday…and if you want to read some more of my ramblings about gratitude – hop on over HERE!

a halloween treat bucket and some magazine info…

Hi friends!  It’s the first day of Fall Break today so the kids are all home and we’re trying to think of something fun to do (no big vacations or getaways for us since daddy is working and the weather is meh)…but I wanted to hop on quickly this morning to share a couple of things:

First of all, I created this fun Halloween treat bucket to share over on the Northridge Publishing blog, Create:  - there’s a step-by-step tutorial with lots of pictures.

bewitched_bucket10

I used the new “Bewitched” collection from We R Memory Keepers – isn’t it fun? I really like the softer colors for a fun bit of a change from the typical boldness that is Halloween.

Also, I have a fun article in the October issue of Scrapbook Trends Magazine…it’s all about buttons!

And I also have an article in the newest Create: Idea book – Holidays…this one covers all three of the big upcoming holidays – Halloween, Thanksgiving, AND Christmas!

Remember…these publications are now available in digital format only – and I shared a great deal for subscribing HERE – an “all-access-pass” for a great price!  You can click HERE to find out more about subscribing!

I hope you will check them out!  Have a Happy Thursday!! :)

trick or treat layout with pixie frames | and a doodlebug giveaway…

Good Morning friends!  I’m taking over the Doodlebug Blog this morning, sharing a fun way to use the new “pixies” on a Halloween layout featuring product from the new “Halloween Parade” collection!

  wendysue_happy_halloween_pixie_layout

Wait…before I go on – just in case you aren’t familiar with this fun new product – here’s exactly what I’m talking about when I say “pixies” – they are kind of like little plastic straws in fun Doodlebug colors:

They also come in sets with banners/flag toppers to coordinate with the new collections – I just love the Halloween Parade set:

I decided to cut the pixies in half and use the pieces to create frames.  They aren’t exactly perfect, but I think that it adds to the whimsical feeling that Halloween should exude!

wendysue_happy_halloween_pixie_detail1

I printed out photos (2 1/2” square) from last Halloween and used the pixies to frame them.

I also framed some patterned paper (from the 6x6 pad) and added fun stickers, tags, and other embellishments.

Of course I couldn’t resist using the fun and colorful star jewels, washi tape, and doodle twine too!

What do you think…do you like the Pixies?  Can you think of some fun ways to use them?  If you can, you need to hop over to the Doodlebug Blog ASAP and leave a comment with your idea – and a chance to win a set of Halloween Parade Pixies and Toppers for yourself!!

May your October be full of tricks and treats…but mostly treats!
