halloween mini book...

Last month I was asked to create a Halloween mini album for the Making Memories blog. I've been wanting to create a "through the years" type of album for a while now, so this was a great opportunity to do it. I love the new Halloween line and used it exclusively for this project -- I put it all together in one night (yes, it was an "all-night" night...but it was SO worth it when I finished)! Every single photo matte doubles as a pocket which holds a card with journaling about each halloween...and sometimes holds additional photos. I love the idea of having a record like this! Now all I have to do for the next 12 years is simply add a photo and journaling for each Halloween! Here's the LINK to the MM Blog...and here are a few more photos:

(Oh, and FYI, in case you're interested, I know these mini album kits are being sold at Target this year for only $5.o0 -- I actually won one at a bunco party in September!)

halloween flashback...

Some of you may have already seen this picture last week on the MM Blog...but, gosh, it's just so cute, I thought it was worth sharing again! lol

Yep, that's us, circa 1979. Tinkerbell, witchy-poo, and a cute little puppy dog (who didn't look too happy about the whole halloween thing...but then again, Kristy and I just might be pulling the same face behind those lovely plastic masks!)

Really, though, I LOVED my Tinkerbell costume. LOVED it. As a matter of fact, I know I wore the same costume for two years...maybe more. Please note the lovely black snowsuit I'm sporting underneath the beautiful polyester lime green dress (I know, you were thinking I was quite the little chubster, but it's really lots of padding in my favorite winter gear) -- gotta love Halloween in Utah!!

And now, almost 30 years later (yikes again) - the kids are finalizing their costume choices for Halloween, 2007. I'm debating whether or not to dress up...I wish I still had my old Tinkerbell costume...

we woke up to this...

Isn't it beautiful? Cold....but beautiful!
This helps with the cold...my favorite wintertime treat:
And this helps too!!
Last night my neighbor called to tell us to look out the window...it was snowing and the ground was already starting to get covered. It was absolutely beautiful!
I'm sure the snow won't last very long...but it won't be long until we get more...hopefully next time there will be enough to build a snowman!

booed...

I never thought that being "booed" was a good thing.

(imagine a stadium full of people booing and taunting).

BUT we were "booed" yesterday...and it was a VERY good thing. VERY CUTE
and VERY YUMMY!!!

pumpkin time...

Yesterday, on our way to Meagan's piano lesson, we passed this: It was parked out in front of an old farmhouse...which just happens to be the same dairy farm where Brad worked when he was a teenager.
Today, after the kids came home from school, we returned! We got a bunch of pumpkins in lots of shapes and sizes - and all for only $11!! What a bargain!

Things like this make me so happy to live in the "country," though our little town is growing quickly and many of the farms and fields are becoming subdivisions.

This made me giggle:...gotta love good old country humor!

(I was telling my neighbor about the sign and she got a worried look on her face and said,
"Oh, I hope nobody actually puts their credit card in there!"
Um, yeah, me too!)

foil and flock...

...I had a chance to play with the new foiling and flocking kit from Making Memories recently. (there's this Halloween set and a Christmas/Holiday set as well). This was such a fun way to add something a little different to a project. You can see step-by-step instructions here.

looks like it's official...

...I'm excited to be doing some design work for American Crafts as a part of their new "local design team."

They made the announcement today on their blog. I'm anxious to get to know the other girls on the local team as well -- should be lots of fun! :)

another project...

...can you stand another project share? This is a frame I made way back in the Spring for Paper Crafts Magazine...it's in the newest issue (November).

Can you tell it's a floating frame, there's no back. I'm just having fun with "clear" stuff lately - from transparent cards and scrapbook pages to the decor around my house.
Speaking of clear stuff...I really need to clean my windows - they are bad. Yeah, glad I thought of that...

Ooh, and did I mention it's supposed to SNOW this weekend? Of course it figures...since we're supposed to have family pictures taken on Saturday. This is the 3rd time we've scheduled a photographer for family pictures this year -- the first time was in June and the night before we were supposed to meet for photos, Zach fell off a cliff...well, not quite a cliff, but a huge ledge at the baseball park and landed on the cement below. Luckily he wasn't hurt too badly, but his face wasn't looking too hot for pictures - I didn't want a family photo with him and his two goose eggs and scrapes all over his little chinny-chin-chin. The second time, our photographer cancelled because her family plans changed. So, now we're just scheduled with Photogenix up Provo Canyon...not what I wanted for our photos this year, but I want something for now and we'll get some fun shots (hopefully) next year with Maggie.

Anyway, let's hope there's a break in the storm, just long enough for us to drive up the canyon and get our pictures taken!!

no, we didn't adopt a daughter...

I've gotten a few e-mails from friends wondering about this:
Have you seen it? It's the cover of the October issue of Scrapbook Trends Magazine. I was given an assignment by Making Memories to create a layout for SBTrends using the new Halloween product, and this is the layout I created. Well, almost. It's the same layout, but they had to switch out the photo.
Here's my original layout:

They wanted to use a color photo rather than a black and white photo (which is what I used on my original layout featuring Meagan on Halloween last year). And this is the color version of the photo I took:
See the problem? Yeah, that pink hair just wasn't working with the other Halloween elements on the page. Of course I was a little disappointed...but that's the way the cookie crumbles sometimes. I am still very excited to have my layout featured on the cover - and the journaling as well as the write-up inside the cover are authentic. (assuming they didn't change anything in my write-up. I haven't actually seen it yet, so I can't say for sure, but I don't think they would have changed that. I'll definitely let you know if they did).

So, no, that isn't really my daughter on the cover - though Meagan has been begging and hoping for a baby sister for years and years. Unfortunately for her, this is probably as close as she'll ever get...
