getting organized for 2014…

I’m spending some time on this New Year’s Eve preparing for the year ahead (because I am so not a party girl…in fact, I’m kind of a nerd…and I’m totally okay with that). I’ve set some goals and made some changes in my priorities and commitments (you might notice some missing items in that column over there on the right ------------------>). I want to make 2014 one of my best, most meaningful, most productive, happiest years ever!

So, I’m sure you are dying to know what I’m doing this night to get prepared for 2014.  Well…I’ve professed my love for office supplies more than once – from the time I was a little girl until now…and my love has not waned, in fact, it’s only deepened with the years!  And right up there on the list of things I love…well, lists!  Office supplies and Lists.  They go hand in hand, no?  YES!  They absolutely do!  And that’s what I’m doing tonight – printing off beautiful planner pages from these two sites:

The Everything Planner:

The Everything Planner: 2013-2014 Printables

and this free planner printable:

I plan to use bits and pieces from both collections and I just ordered this super cute binder to hold it all (it was suggested by the amazing designer of the free planner printable):

And we all know that having cute pages and binders makes the whole “staying organized” thing even better!  Now I know some of you are wondering why in the world I would still use a paper planner when everything is so…digital…these days.  Well, I do use my calendar on my phone, and I have an app for making lists that I use for some things…but there is just something comforting, and even rewarding, to me at least, about writing things on paper.  Call me crazy…I can take it…but I don’t have any plans to stop using paper planners for my calendars and list-making anytime soon.

Oh, and I have to mention that I sure do love having amazon prime…my new binder will be here on Saturday – I can hardly wait! :o)

Happy New Year!

inspired scrapbooking with stacy julian…

I am sure I’ve mentioned it before, but it’s probably been a while, so I’m going to mention it again.  I love Stacy Julian

Stacy J headshot

You know her, right?  If you don’t, you should…here’s a link to her blog (click here).  She is pretty amazing.  And truly one of the nicest people I have ever met.  And, yes, in case you are wondering, I have actually met her in real life, unlike so many of the other scrapbooking women I admire!  She is real and fun and amazing!  She is an incredible teacher and she is the BEST at inspiring people (me) to record memories while living life to it’s fullest.  She’s the one who once told me “it’s okay to use cute products in our scrapbooks because our kids are cute!”  That was back when everyone was turning to the grungy/artsy style and I just couldn’t do it…I have always been a “cute” scrapbooker and it was nice to have my feelings reaffirmed by someone I admire so much. Thank you, Stacy! :)

So, needless to say, I am so so so excited to share some fun news with you today.  Stacy is teaching a year long class called “Inspired Scrapbooking.”  It’s an online class that is hosted through her site, Big Picture Classes.

Here’s a little snippet from the site:  “Every month in 2014, Stacy will introduce you to one of the twelve themes, sharing four favorite layouts of her own, plus one new layout she'll create in real time and share on a live classroom blog.  Wouldn't you love to scrap along with Stacy, creating anywhere from 12 to 60 new layouts this year that share the essential stories of your life? Now you can, for just $3 a month!

I’m super excited to scrap along with Stacy and I am already registered and ready to begin in two short days!   yay!

Guess what?  I want YOU to join me!  As you can see, above, the price is very reasonable for the amount and quality of instruction Stacy will be sharing.  BUT, one of you will be able to take the class for FREE!  Yes, you read that right – the nice folks at BPS have allowed me to give away one spot in this amazing class!  All you have to do is leave a comment telling me one of your goals for 2014…scrapbook related or not, big or small, it doesn’t matter – just tell me one thing you’ll be working on during the coming year.  The class starts officially on January 2nd – and that’s the day I’ll announce my winner…so leave a comment before 7:00 am on January 2nd and then check back to see if you’re going my lucky classmate throughout the coming year! :)

Happy New Year’s Eve!!

candy making day | bella blvd…

Hi friends!  I’m up on the Bella Blvd. blog this morning, along with some of my design team friends,  sharing a layout featuring a fun way to use frames!

wendysue_bellablvd_frame_layout1 I wanted to document our annual candy making day – these photos are from last year and they were taken with my phone…not super great quality, but it’s still a tradition I wanted to record.

I opted to use the small photos, embellished with lots of fun products from the “Christmas Countdown” collection.

These cute polaroid-style frames are available in this die-cut pack:

I hope you’re having a great start to this holiday week!  Fill it with fun activities, start new traditions, make memories…and remember to take photos along the way so you can document your special days! :)

our christmas pajamas tradition | doodlebug design…

I’m up on the Doodlebug blog today (along with cute Tya) sharing one of our Christmas traditions – Christmas Eve Pajamas!  I wanted to share it here as well…

This is the layout I created using Doodlebug’s newest Christmas line,  “Home for the Holidays”:

I just love the traditional colors with a fun, modern twist!  Here are a few of the details:

It also seems that it’s becoming a tradition for me to document these Christmas Eve PJ photos by creating a fun, unique, oversized Christmas tree on the layouts – here’s a peek at the PJ layouts from the last couple of years:

I sure love this tradition and I’m looking forward to continuing it in just a few short days – even though I still can’t believe Christmas is only 4 days away!  Remember to document your fun holidays traditions – I bet you’ll enjoy looking back and comparing year to year just as much as we do!

mini christmas gift boxes | bella blvd.

Last week, on the Bella Blvd. blog (here), my assignment was to be inspired by pinterest.  Be sure to visit the Bella blog to see my inspiration piece!  Here’s the set of gift boxes I created using Bella’s Christmas Countdown line (and a few extras):

I used my Silhouette Cameo to cut each box.

Next, I wrapped each box with a strip of coordinating paper:

Each box has a unique “topper:”

I can’t wait to fill each box with something special:

gift card wrap idea…

Are you a gift-card giver?  I certainly am – it’s HARD to find just the right gift sometimes and gift cards ensure everyone’s happiness (and my sanity, lol).  I do, however, like to personalize those gift cards a bit – adding some of my own love and personality to go along with the store card.  I shared a step-by-step tutorial earlier this week over on the Create: blog.  Here’s the completed project:

Be sure to stop by the Create: blog to see just how easy it is to make this yourself! :)

another christmas neighbor gift idea | pebbles inc…

Are you still stumped as to what to give friends and neighbors for Christmas this year?  How about the gift of a cozy evening in?  I shared this project earlier on the Pebbles blog (here).  And while I can’t guarantee your neighbors won’t go out in the freezing cold temps, I bet this gift will encourage them to stay inside and snuggle in front of a blazing fire:

At least that’s what I’d do if someone gave me a big canister of Stephen’s hot chocolate and a CD full of beautiful Christmas music!

Our family loves to choose a few favorite holiday tunes, mixing classics with brand new songs, and we create our own family Christmas CD every Christmas season.  Once we make it, it’s easy to burn more copies to share with friends and neighbors!

I created the CD folders with my Silhouette Cameo.

And everything is embellished with Pebbles’ Lakeside collection – not even a Christmas collection if you can believe that!!

Hope you’re having a wonderful week and getting lots of Holiday projects complete – if you’re having a hard time getting in the mood, turn on some Christmas tunes – I’m sure it will help! :)
