upcycle layout…

I created this fun and colorful layout with Cosmo Cricket’s new UPCYCLE line.

I just can’t get enough of this color combo – it just makes me happy!!upcycle_together_layout_wendysue

I love the little butterflies in the new sets:

And, of course, I LOVE the buttons!

And Cosmo Cricket always has the best journaling blocks on their elements sheets – I love them!

Happy Monday!

P.S. Isn’t this the cutest necklace?

I ordered one today from GroopDealz – I can’t wait until it comes! :o)

license to drive…

Brad gave the boys an old wallet to play with…after loading it up with their money (mostly coins, lol)…they informed me that they needed driver’s licenses. :o)

The superhero emblems were their ideas…inspired, I think, by Seth’s shirt in his photo.

I wish the photo on my license was even half as cute as these! :o)

play time…

One of the (many) fun things about moving has been taking the opportunity to go through all of my scrapbooking stuff…and by “stuff,” I mean everything – from paper and embellishments to tools, idea books, and photos.  I have SO many photos that I’ve printed and tucked away, and then forgotten about, so I have had fun walking down memory lane as I’ve been cleaning and organizing over the last several weeks.

The photo on this layout is one that I’ve recently rediscovered.  It is crazy to me that I remember this exact day – we had only lived in our house for a couple of months (the one we just moved out of).  Zach was such a little teeny guy.  He loved his crib – especially when he could pull himself up to a standing position.  He would stand there for the longest time just grinning and giggling and bouncing up and down – so content to be in his crib and so excited to simply be standing!

I used Cosmo Cricket’s Togetherness line to create this page.  I just LOVE the colors in this line – I can’t get enough of it.  On this layout, I was experimenting with the border along the bottom…

togetherness_play_layout_wendysue

I cut several strips of paper from the mini deck pages, then folded them over without creasing the fold, and stapled the top.  I attached all of the folded strips along the bottom and covered the staples with ribbon.

 togetherness_play_layout_detail2_wendysue

I think if I try this technique again, I’ll trim the cardstock from the base of the layout so the border is visible from the front and the back.

togetherness_play_layout_detail1_wendysue

It’s snowing like crazy again today – and even though I would like to complain about it, I’m not going to.  I was able to spend some time outside this morning, shoveling the driveway, breathing the fresh air, and seeing all of our new neighbors wave and smile and they drove down the road.  :o)

NOW…if you’re the type of person who likes to win free scrapbooking product, I have a couple of links for you!

Pebbles Inc. is giving away a fun prize package!  All week, the design team has been sharing layouts that we have scraplifted from each other – it’s been so much fun.  Today, you can leave a comment on THIS post, sharing something that you’ve seen on the Pebbles blog that you’d like to scraplift and then you just might win a fun prize package of Pebbles goodies!

progress…

I still have a long (long, long, long) ways to go…but I’m slowly unpacking the scrapbook supplies.

I decided to go ahead and start putting things on the shelves temporarily.

After I decide for sure what’s staying, I’ll start shopping around for some cute containers!

If you have these shelves and you know of a source for fun baskets or containers that fit, please let me know! :o)

P.S. Would anyone be interested in purchasing a few brand new (older, but never been used…still in packaging)12x12 post bound albums?  E-mail me if you are interested.

scraplifting, pebbles style…

This week on the Pebbles, Inc. blog, we were given the assignment to “scraplift”another design team member.  I didn’t have to search very far back into the archives before finding the layout I wanted to “lift.”  Isn’t this layout by LG just the sweetest?

Sweetie

I loved how she used that fun scallop border punch!   It just happens that I purchased that punch several months ago, yet it was still sitting in my basket unopened.  gasp. I know.  How could I love a tool so much, and not use it?!?  Well LG’s layout was just the kick in the pants I needed to pull it out and create something fun with it!  Here’s my “lift” of LG’s super sweet layout:pebbles_wildride1  pebbles_wildride_detail1 pebbles_wildride_detail2 pebbles_wildride_detail3 pebbles_wildride_detail4

You can read more about my lift, and see everyone else’s amazing projects HERE on the Pebbles, Inc. blog.  Be sure to check in every day this week for fun design team scraplifts!

subway art…

I’ve always loved words.  I guess that is why I’m really loving the new “subway art” trend.

So this morning when I saw this cute piece of Vinyl Kitchen Subway Art on Groopdealz, I couldn’t pass it up, and I ordered it immediately!

deal_125

It’s big – 11” x 14” and I think I’m going to frame it…but I haven’t decided exactly what I’m going to do yet.  It’s a fun piece, don’t you think?!?

he knows me…

My 7 year old knows me well.

He knows I’m a list maker.

He knows I need to write things down or I tend to forget.

He knows if something is important, it had better be written down and put somewhere I will see it 20 times.

Last night I was sitting on my bed relaxing – making necklaces, actually – when Seth came in and asked me if I would make cupcakes tomorrow (today) while he was at school.  He  told me he’d like chocolate cupcakes with chocolate frosting on them…he repeated the chocolate frosting request a couple of times.  (I usually make chocolate cake with white frosting because that’s my favorite).  I told him I would make them for him, and he left the room.

About five minutes later he returned, walked around the bed to my nightstand and sat this paper on it…and told me it was a note so I wouldn’t forget.

cupcake_note

With a sweet reminder like this, I could never allow myself to forget his cute little request.

So, you know what is right at the top of my “to do” list today.

Yep…Zach and I will be baking cupcakes! :o)

je t'adore…

…I adore you…

I made this cute little framed piece using Making Memories new Valentine’s line called je t’adore.

mm_jetadore_frame

I mod-podged a wooden frame and added a few embellishments from the line to the center…a quick and easy little Valentine’s Day decor. :o)

I also put together this little gift box set with the same line (and my handy dandy silhouette machine).  You can see better photos of the gift boxes on the Making Memories website. :o)

the scrap review…

Several months ago, I was contacted by Ashley, over at The Scrap Review.  She asked if I’d be interested in joining her team of ‘reporters.’  I thought it sounded like fun…so I accepted her offer.  (with the stipulation, of course, that I had to wait until after our move to start.)  :o)

TSR-redesign-NL

My first official assignment was simply to share five of my favorite items from the latest CHA release.  If you’re interested in peeking at my picks, head on over The Scrap Review.  While you’re there, you can see what the other gals picked too – it’s always fun to see what the show faves are! :o)

i love surprises…

Especially when they come in the form of beautiful flowers. :o)pink_roses_filtered

Brad surprised me with this gorgeous little gift last week.  Now those branches are actually blossoming (another fun surprise!)…they look so gorgeous sitting on our kitchen table.  I love having fresh flowers in our home – and they seem especially beautiful when the world outside out window is covered in pure glistening whiteness! :o)

2010 review layout…

Last month I created this “year in review” layout for the Making Memories blog.

2010_review_layout_wendysue

I chose one photo from each month of the year and created a little collage for my layout.

2010_review_detail4

Since all the photos are in color, I opted for a black and cream combo for my papers and embellishments.  I used the Noir Paper Reverie Collection.

2010_review_detail1

I love the black gem trim tape…it was so easy to place and adds a really subtle hint of definition.

2010_review_detail2

And this gray fabric flower is my favorite flower out of this entire line:

2010_review_detail3

I didn’t add a lot of journaling to this layout – it’s more of a “glimpse” into our year.

2010_review_layout2_wendysue

I am working on another fun little project that serves as a “year in review” for 2010

…can’t wait to finish it and share it with you!

slice fabrique project…

Remember last autumn when I shared some fun Slice Fabrique projects with you?

(here’s a link to the other posts 1, 2, 3)

Well, there are a couple more projects I haven’t shared yet.

This little jacket is one of them.

 slice_fabric_brownjacket1

There is actually a funny (kind of) story about this jacket.  You see, my original plan was to create a monkey hanging off the shoulder of this jacket.  I cut out, pieced together, and stitched the little monkey and started to iron him on…and quickly realized that I shouldn’t have tried to iron anything onto this jacket…it started to melt.  Yikes.

I was totally stressing since Making Memories had sent me specific articles of clothing that I was supposed to embellish.  A jacket with melted holes?  Not good.

I figured all was lost and I was probably going to make someone angry…but I had a lot of work to do, so I moved on.  I was able to salvage the monkey and I attached him to the back pocket of these overalls and started working on something else.  (I think he looks cuter hanging off the pocket anyway.)

slice_fabric_overalls3

After everything else was complete, I decided to revisit the coat.  After checking out all of the slice card images, I decided maybe I could cover the melted portions with the rocketship on the Playtime card

slice_fabric_brownjacket2

What do you think?  If you look really closely you can see a bit of the melted parts…but I think I covered it pretty well.  Between the rocket and the strategically placed stars, hopefully the holes aren’t too obvious.

slice_fabric_brownjacket3

I added some more stars to the pocket to tie it all together – and sent it away with the other projects. :o)

slice_fabric_brownjacket4

P.S. I used fabric glue to attach the rocketship and stars the second time around…no heat! :o)
