one eskimO - {a review AND a free song for you to download}...

It's been a while since I've reviewed any music on my blog - but a couple of weeks ago I received a new CD from One2One Network - just so I could listen to it and share my thoughts with you. :)

The CD I received is One EskimO.  I had never heard of this group.  However, once I started listening to the CD, I thought they sounded vaguely familiar.  They currently have the #1 adult alternative song called 'Kandi' which you may have already heard since it's the most played song on all adult rock radio 4 weeks and counting.

A couple of days after I received the CD, I had some meetings in Salt Lake that I needed to drive to.  Two days in a row.  Driving time from here to SLC is about 1 hour each way...I put in this CD and listened to it the entire time.  The entire time.  The first couple of times, I was concentrating on the music, the lyrics, etc.  But then I found my thoughts drifting.  The music is calming.  Very calming.  (Don't worry - it didn't make me drowsy.)  I felt relaxed and thoughtful.  I wasn't even stressed about driving in the city - which ALWAYS makes me stress...so this CD will mainly be living in my car, especially for times like that!

I can also see this as a cd that I would pop in and listen to during the day - as I work and go about my normal daily stuff.  It's not distracting.  It's pleasant.  I really liked it.

One place I will not be listening to this CD is while I'm walking/running.  Not upbeat enough for that. :o)  Other than that one scenario - it's a keeper! :o)

I can't choose a favorite song - but I did hop over to their YouTube channel and found a couple of videos I thought were fun - and worth sharing.

I like this video version of the song Kandi:

And here's a link to another fun cartoon-y video: Given Up.

Here's a bit of information about the group:

  • One eskimO is a critically-acclaimed English band fronted by singer-songwriter Kristian Leontiou and includes musicians Pete Rinaldi (guitar), Jamie Sefton (bass, horns) and Adam Falkner (drums).
  • Billboard Magazine calls One eskimO's self-titled debut album "...catchy, ambient pop." and Los Angeles Times Magazine hails the song "Kandi" a beautiful, aspirational track.”  The album is available in stores now.
  • The album release comes in tandem with a full length animated film.  “Hometime”, one of the tracks that an animated short was first done with proved to be quite a sensation.  It received numerous honors at film festivals around the world, as well as a 2008 British Animation Award.
  • Band is on tour May/June/July supporting Michael Franti and in addition to festivals and headlining shows.

And now for the FREEBIE:  You can download one of the songs from the CD  for free!  Go here!  Let me know what you think!  And please, if you know of any other groups with similar styles/sounds, I'd love to hear about them.  :o)

baskets of fun...

Yesterday, Cosmo Cricket teamed up with Ella Publishing for a fun little blog swap.  That meant I was able to use another awesome book by Ella Publishing - this time to inspire a layout!

Because I'm a lover of sketches myself, I chose the book "Stretch Your Sketches" by Donna Jannuzzi.  It has 32 pages of inspiration to draw from...and more than 30 sketches!  It was hard to choose just one sketch to start with, but I ended up choosing the sketch on page 19 to inspire my layout.  I am actually planning on printing this e-book so I can use it as a reference more easily - I'm sure it will be a great resource to have!

I really am loving the DeLovely line - even more than I ever thought I would!   I love how versatile it is...once again, I didn't even think twice about using it with boy photos. :o)

I am really loving this new Cosmo Cricket line - I love the bright colors and I think it's really versatile.

Even though there are lots of "flowery" designs, it's not at all "girly."

So here is my latest delovely layout:cc_delovely_layout

I love the fun coordinating chipboard. cc_delovely_layout2

The little letter stickers are great too (I love the PINK and TURQUOISE)!

vintage groove designer challenge {and a chance to win}...

A couple of weeks ago, Making Memories challenged two of us (Suzonne and myself) to create a necklace with the same kit.

This is the kit we were given to use:

VG_33890

{you can purchase it at Scrapbook.com by clicking on THIS link}

It was so fun to open up their blog this morning and see both creations on it.  Honestly, you would never ever guess we used the same kit.

Suzonne has such a beautiful, trendy, unique, fun style and her necklace totally reflects that!

My style is much more conservative and simple - and you can totally tell by looking at my necklace.

Hop on over to the Making Memories Blog to see both of our necklaces.  Then be sure to visit the Making Memories Jewelry facebook page and leave a comment for a chance to win!

and the winner is...

As promised, this morning I picked a random comment to win a copy of the new Ella Book, Picture Perfect.clip_image001

another vintage groove necklace...

I took some time this past weekend to put together some more necklaces.  Actually, I sat down to make one and ended up having so much fun I completed four necklaces and a bracelet!  I think this is my favorite necklace of the bunch:

 mm_necklace1a

Did you know you can purchase the Making Memories Vintage Groove Jewelry line at Scrapbook.com

I didn't know until my friend, Laura, pointed it out to me last week.  Nice!  Especially nice for those of us who aren't lucky enough to live near a Target or a Scrapbook store.  So from now on when I share jewelry pieces, I'll share a link to the supplies I used.  I like to mix and match pieces from all of the different sets.  If you'll just click on the links (below) you can see exactly which elements I used to create my pieces!

it's all good...

...especially when there is cotton candy to be had! :o)  As soon as I saw that two-toned pink patterned paper in this new line from Cosmo Cricket, I immediately thought of cotton candy.  Good thing we had Cotton Candy at Disneyland last year so I could scrapbook the pictures! :o)

Have you had a chance to see Cosmo Cricket's brand new line, Delovely?  If not, hop right over to their blog to take a peek.  It's bright and fun and summery!

This is my first layout with the new line - but I've already got a couple more projects done (but not photographed) that I'll be sharing soon.

delovely_yum_wendysue

I used some green paint to change these chipboard letters (on sale HERE).

They are black chipboard (blackboard) and they are seriously some of my favorite letters ever.

delovely_yum_detail3_wendysue

I had to add machine stitching, of course...and I used foam squares to attach this element to the center of the layout.

delovely_yum_detail2_wendysue

And yes - I used my favorite pen (ever!) to add a little bit of journaling to a trimmed-out piece from the elements page.

delovely_yum_detail4_wendysue

I couldn't resist cutting out this turtle - he's my favorite little guy in this set!  I cut him out with little precision scissors and added him with more foam squares.

delovely_yum_detail1_wendysue

I also used a scallop border punch (on sale HERE) for the bottom piece.

Also, be sure to visit the Cosmo Cricket Blog today to see what the other design team members created with this fun line AND enter for a chance to win your own set of Delovely!
