things to smile about...

It's been kind of a downer week...one of those weeks where nothing is wrong, but everything is wrong...just kind of cruddy, you know? So last night I guess I was kind of feeling sorry for myself when I realized I have SO much to be grateful for and so many reasons to be happy. So I grabbed my camera and started taking pictures of some of the THINGS that are making me happy right now. Nothing deep - just some (mostly materialistic) things that I can smile about.
waking up the "chi-chi-chi-chi" sound of the sprinklers in the field behind me...I think the sound these sprinklers make is so relaxing.
A whole cup full of "flowers" the kids picked for me yesterday afternoon. Yes, the snow barely melted...it didn't take long for the dandelions to start growing.
These are blooming all around my house...so bright and pretty.
I decided if I wanted to be a "real mom" I needed to be a better multi-tasker. So I invested in a set of scriptures with LARGE PRINT. Now I can read my scriptures while I'm walking on the treadmill - Yes, I have to walk a little bit slower than I might if I weren't reading...but maybe I'll get extra blessings (in the form of lost pounds) for reading my scriptures while I'm exercising, right?
Speaking of walking on my treadmill...I finally put up my vinyl lettering on the wall opposite the windows in the basement (hence the poorly lit photo). I love this message.
Now I just need to put some photos in those frames...
Scentsy. Yum. I bought my first pots and scents about a month ago - and I love love love being able to switch out the scents as often as I want. Right now I have grapefruit pomegranete in my kitchen and sugar cookie downstairs. mmmmmm....

Stocking up the pantry a bit - added to our food storage this week.
Picked up Stephenie Meyer's new book at Costco a couple of days ago.
I haven't had a chance to start it yet, but I'm sure it will be a good read.
And this is my mother's day present this year! I've been wanting a mixer like this forever and Brad finally told me I should get one for Mother's Day - and he even let me have it early! I haven't actually used it yet - but it sure looks great sitting out on the kitchen counter. I debated forever between red and black, but finally decided to go with the more neutral of the two...maybe I'll make some cookies later...mmmm...chocolate chip cookie dough...that always makes for a good pick-me-up!

  1. Love the photo on your header! This is a fun post. Hope you enjoy your new mixer. They are prettier than a BOSCH - but I won't trade my bosch for anything. Happy Mother's Day!

  4. Your blog looks amazing! That is such a cute family photo. I'm jealous of your new mixer, I need one too! They are so pricey, I usually talk myself out of buying one. You'll have to let me know if you like "The Host", I'm so curious about it. I'll probably just buy it, if I see it... I love the vinyl lettering above your frames too. Fun things going on all over at your house! And, I agree. As soon as I start having a pity party, I just start counting my blessings, and realize how fortunate I really am. :) TFS!
