Echo Park Design Team: January Blog Hop…

Welcome to the Echo Park Paper Design Team Blog Hop!

January-DT-Blog-Hop-Graphic

Today the Echo Park Paper Design Team is showcasing projects from our latest collections. I wanted to share a layout I created with the new “Love Story” collection.

FTR2 Tailored Kitcover

I used a little bit of everything on this layout – it was too hard to choose just a few papers or embellishments!

wendysue_lovestory_layout_on_background

By the way, this photo of Brad and I was taken a couple of years ago when I was trying out a new hair color.  I loved having dark brown hair – for about 3 days – until my blonde roots started growing out…and looked GRAY!  yikes!  Gray hair will come soon enough, I don’t want to look like I have it before I really do.  So I went back to my natural blonde soon afterwards.

wendysue_lovestory_layout_on_background_detail1

Of course, I’m a fan of the sticker banner – and, as usual, I attached it with foam dots – my fave!

wendysue_lovestory_layout_on_background_detail2

Aren’t these little banner flags thingys cute?  I love the little pearl brads too…

wendysue_lovestory_layout_on_background_detail3

And of course, I had to tuck in some of those cute toothpick flags!

wendysue_lovestory_layout_on_background_detail4wendysue_lovestory_layout_on_background_detail5

Yep, more of the pearl brads along the border strip – but aren’t those little heart tickets are so sweet!

Be sure to follow the blog hop list below as you hop from one blog to the next. ONE winner will be selected from each blog to receive an Echo Park Paper collection kit of their choosing.

To qualify for the kit, you must leave a comment on my blog telling me if you color your hair – and if you do, tell me what color it is now and what color it is naturally…I know, I’m making it rough to qualify for the kit…but it’s totally worth it, right?!?

[Also, be sure to leave your e-mail address on your comment so I can contact you if you win!]

Comments will be due by midnight EST, Sunday, January 27th to qualify for the drawing. The winner will be announced on each blog Monday, January 28th so be sure to check back to see if you've won.

Here’s the list of everyone who is participating this month – be sure to visit each blog for a chance to win!

  5. Cute layout, love the banner! My hair is a dirty brown. As I get older my hair gets darker. It lightens up in the summer. I used to highlight it but it got very expensive and after letting it grow out when I was pregnant, 5 years ago, I decided to stop having it highlighted.....well now I am pregnant again (still no highlights) but once this baby is born, in a couple weeks, I think I am going to have it highlighted again because too many white hairs are coming in and the highlights will mask that! It stinks getting old!! LOL!!

  8. nope - don't color mine, and it is grey .... at least that is what they tell me, I am not sure I agree - but I heard a sales clerk refer to me as the grey haired lady .... so maybe I need to start facing up to reality!

  9. Great inspirations! I do highlight my hair, it's a natural dark brown but I add in lots of lighter shades.

  10. I actually have brown hair and color brown and still have that grey issue and its actually grey! LOL! Great page and I love the added the hearts to the banner.

  11. aww your layout is adorable.. I love that little banner and the flags are a great add.. totally love it..

  12. Fabulous layout! I DO color my hair. I was proud of the fact that I didn't have to for so long, but 40 is almost here and it seems to be making me old! I am a blond with lots of natural highlights so I stay very close to that. Not fake peroxide blond mind you, just natural golden blond with a few little highlights. Maybe some day I'll get crazy. Yeah, probably not.

  13. Love your beautiful layout!! Yes, I color my hair a brownish red. Gotta cover up that gray!

    ReplyDelete
  14. Adorable L/O! I love this collection.

Who doesn't color their hair?!?!? My natural color is light brown and for years (and years) I have been a dyed blonde!

    ReplyDelete
  15. Such a cute page!! I do not color my hair YET! I am ready to start. Getting more grays here and there - I will problably try a home color non perminet since I do not ave to much gray and I do not want there to be a line when it grows out. I have had my hair highlighted several times too when I get bored!

  16. Haha, what a funny, totally unrelated question ;) I do colour my hair. I normally have some kind of ugly dark blonde-brownish colour. In winter I colour it a light brown, in summer dark brown :)

    ReplyDelete
  17. My hair is naturally blonde and gets super light with the sun (I live in AZ) so I color my hair with a warmer blonde to even out my color and cover those pesky WHITE hairs. I love the layout and all the gorgeous details!

    ReplyDelete
  18. Charming layout; you've showcased the EP collection beautifully. My hair is an 'interesting' mix of my 'old' brown and 'new' grey. I haven't colored it in years. For now, the salt-'n-pepper is okay, however, a new, fresh look is in the pondering stages. Thanks for sharing your project!!

    ReplyDelete
  19. My hair is naturally mid brown, have had blonde highlights in the past but don't have them at the moment, as soon as the greys get worse I'll have to go back to having them again!

    ReplyDelete
  20. Your page is so adorable!

  22. I haven't colored my hair for some time. I have black hair and I usually color them in 2 tones of brown.

Love your LO. The papers are just so pretty.

  24. Hi, thanks for the chance to win! My hair is currently blonde but naturally, it is mouse-y brown streaked with grey! I have seen that color, other than roots, for years!

    ReplyDelete
  25. I can definitely see why it would be hard to choose!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  26. What a fab layout, just lovin' all the little details!

    ReplyDelete
  27. I love your layout and the sticker banner, very cute!! My hair is currently brown hiding lots of grey...lol!!! Funny you should ask, years ago I was in hairdressing school (gad..45 years ago..eek!) and I volunteered for color class every week. I had a different haircolor every week, platinum, blond, redhead, brunette, black, "frosted" and frosted with each blond streak colored a different color ( green, blue, red, yellow, purple, etc). I have never been afraid to experiment with color. Thanks for asking and thanks for the chance to win!!

  28. Beautiful LO really love that banner. Thank you for sharing!

  29. Gorgeous, lots of little bits and pieces to look at..

  30. Super cute layout! Clean and simple design, yet lots of interesting things to look at -- love the banner!

    ReplyDelete
  31. Right now my hair is it's natural state~lol, but I usually dye it brown & in the Summer I highlight some sections Platinum Blonde, some Red & some Blue~sort of streaks thru-out! Your LO is wonderful;) Thanx 4 sharing~prhmangel(at)gmail(dot)com

    ReplyDelete
  32. love all the details on your layout! :) I haven't colored my hair in a while, but I did put highlights in it recently. My hair is naturally dark dark brown.

    ReplyDelete
  33. what a fun page and all the fun details!! I LOVE coloring my hair!!!! I'm naturally a blonde and color is a deep reddish brown... I LOVE being a redhead!!!

    ReplyDelete
  34. Yes I HAVE to color my hair, I have so much gray hair :( I usually do it myself to save money; but I dread doing it! I use the Garnier Nutresse and I think the color is a caramel brown, the exact color is excaping me right now. Love your layout, thank for the inspiration! Pinning it right now ;)

    ReplyDelete
  35. Cute layout - I love the flags!
I do not color my hair - I like my brown. But ask me again when the gray starts coming in more regularly and the answer could be different!

    ReplyDelete
  36. I colored my hair in the past. My hair is naturally black and I wanted to try something new. I wanted to be a brunette. I went to the salon with the picture of what I want my hair color to be. Well, it didn't turn out as the color I want it to be. Instead of being in the dark brown side, my hair looked light. I can even remember my mom's disapproving look. But I did learn to like my new hair color. Got a few 2nd looks since they didn't recognize me at first. But that was it! No more hair color for me.

    ReplyDelete
  37. Love the EP layout! I had blond highlights put in my auburn hair once and it was great for a few days just like you said. But once the highlights started growing out it looked terrible! Never again! I'll stick to my natural color until the grays need to be tamed.

    ReplyDelete
  38. Yep I totally color my hair! It is blond now and normally it is some awful dishwater blond! If it were a nice brown I would totally not color it, but since I was blond until I started having children I am going with blond. My hair has gotten darker with each child but not in a good way! :)

    ReplyDelete
  39. I love the layout. I can't believe how many different pieces are included in this layout until you start counting. The story about your hair is cute. My story is that I tried a brown and my hair turned a really ugly shade of red. And it was even a brighter, uglier color in the sun light. I couldn't wait to get back to my natural color.

    ReplyDelete
  40. Such a sweet layout! Love your story! Love all the bits & pieces from the collection, esp the banner & flags!

    ReplyDelete
  41. In love with those flags also the banner is so cute! Thanks for sharing.

  43. YES! Lately it has been red - I think the box says "pure paprika" :D
Other times it has been dark brown, ash blond and even purple once. I'm not sure what my natural color is :/ I used to be strawberry blonde but I think it has darkened a lot through the years...

    Love your work!

  44. beautiful xx love the details you have added xx my hair at the moment my natural boring brown, i used to dye it all the time (pink, dipped red ends, permed, white blond ) but since i was pregnant with tilly -she's 1 1/2 now- i just havent bothered xxx a red my be on the cards soon though xxx

    ReplyDelete
  45. Beautiful LO! Love all of the little details, esp. the stitching. Hmmm, color my hair? Not in the traditional sense no. But I do have a few highlights. However, nothing that covers the grey. I am actually kind of proud of the grey. Like some of the other ladies here, I did play with the color when I was younger, but I'm quite pleased with it now.

    1. Oh of course I did not mention, my hair is brown, sort of a medium brown with deep caramel highlights. Nothing terribly dramatic at all.

  46. I never colored my hair. I think I love my natural color, it's brown with kind of red.

    Love your sweet layout.

  48. I am embracing my grey & no longer colouring (have been since my early thirties). Not too sure I like it, but giving it a try.

    ReplyDelete
  49. love your page, all that pink is so pretty.
My hair is mid brown, i have it coloured a couple of times a year a little darker, to chocolate brown. Thankfully i only have one or two grey hairs and when i see them i pull them out :)!

    ReplyDelete
  50. My natural hair color is light brown with a bit of gray mixed in. In my much, much younger days, I had my hair colored blonde but one day I decided to go with a super short hair cut and my natural color. I liked it so much that I have stayed with my natural color and very short hair for many years now.
    Love your project. Iris

I color my hair but haven't since I found out I was pregnant but I could color it now being that I had the baby 3 weeks ago. I usually have a really dark red brown color but right now it's just brown with lots of roots.

    ReplyDelete
  53. My hair is a lovely dark brown, unfortunately with lots of grey. Usually I dye it to match the brown, but this summer I tried something lighter. Back to brown now. LOVE your work - very cute. krglover6369@yahoo.com

Yep I colour my hair ... trying to grow out the black I put in it should take about 2 more years at the length my hair is and am dying it dark red over top so it's about 1/3 red and 2/3 black while my real colour is brown with redish highlights ... 77. That is a great story about your hair! I actually have mostly gray right now, was a natural brunette with auburn highlights. I have been coloring my hair since i was 30 and the gray started early. I stayed pretty close to my natural dark brown, occassionaly getting blonde highlights. BTW, your layout is very pretty!

    ReplyDelete
  78. I love your layout!! The banner/flag thingys look awesome!! ;)

Oh, and to answer your question - I don't colour my hair. Haven't in years. I am a pretty low maintenance kinda gal!

    ReplyDelete
  79. I have never colored my hair. It's dark brown, nearly black. With a few grays for good measure.

    ReplyDelete
  80. I am a natural brunette and have blue eyes, which is a more rare combination, so I do not color my hair. BUT-a few years ago I discovered a demi permanent hair color and that hides the few grays that want to sneak in (but because it's not permanent color, I never have grow-out lines. Color just fades away). I hope that helps:) On another note-I love your layout! Staci O (stacilosborne@yahoo.com)

You look great with the brown hair! Sorry it didn't work out.

    My hair started out blond and got darker as I aged - sort of a mousy brown now, so I highlight. Going back to what it used to be is only sort of cheating, right? (;

  98. Hey there - I am in love with this kit! You used embellishments on this page with such knack and success. My hair is going gray so I color it dark brown with 2 lighter brown highlights going through it! Can get expensive so it's a good thing my hair is short!

    ReplyDelete
  99. Very sweet layout!! I love the embellishments especially the brads and the flags! You did an awesome job and thanks for sharing!! I have always had brown hair and would love to try blonde so maybe I just need to let it all go grey!

  100. First off, great LO. Secondly, I have natural lt brown hair with a little high lights already. However, the older I get, the more I am losing my natural highlights so I started having it highlighted a few years ago. Sometimes it's more blonde highlights and sometimes it more golden bronze highlights. A friend does my hair so I totally trust her and she does it according to the seasons usually. I usually give her free reign over my hair cuts as well. Like I said, I trust her completely and I figure is she gives me a bad cut or color it's only hair so it will grown back.

    ReplyDelete
  101. Love your layout. Although many people think I don't, I do. It's normally brown and it's colored brown but seems to be fading to reddish brown. I've gotten lots of complements on the reddish brown that wasn't even intentional so maybe I'll have to consider that next time!

  133. first let me say that you know you really love a collection when you want to use it ALL! ! My hair color? Well, my natural hair color is really really really black..but I change it about every 2 months or so with streaks (whatever color it turns out) and for shine, I add Nutriss BL21 since I got grays up in there ...

  134. I color my mousy brown hair when I get tired of looking at the grey. Right now I need to color it again (nothing too drastic, maybe a little more red than I have naturally) and get it cut.

Love the layout page. Very creative!

  138. Such a cute layout. No coloring for me. I'm a natural blonde that has darkened over the years. A friend and I have a pact that no matter how dark I get I will always be referred to as a blonde. She's a redhead...and will always be one of course.

  140. I really like the banner on your layout.

And yes, I highlight my hair to help keep it looking blonde and not dirty blonde.

  142. I colored my hair for years until about a year ago. Now it's growing out & is an "ash" color according to my hairdresser with a small gray highlight on 1 side in the front. The dyed color of a blond-brown is really prettier but I'm trying to cut expenses.

  143. I found my first grey hairs at 21 and consequently have been coloring my hair for over 15 years now. Natural color used to be dark brown but it's funny that no matter what color I use now by the time I'm ready to color again it's practically blond. Side effect of too many greys?
