a photo challenge…

Now, I don’t claim to be a photographer by any means.  I’m a mom who loves to take pictures and document those pictures and the stories behind them through scrapbooking.

zachI don’t have a lot of technical knowledge. I’ve picked up a few tips from people who are much more talented than myself.  So, without proclaiming any special skills, knowledge, or abilities, I am hosting a little photo challenge on the Two Peas blog right now.

It’s all about Black & White conversions and WHY you might want to convert your photos. If you’re interested, you can read all about WHY I converted these three photos to black & white (here).

Check it out HERE in the Two Peas challenge gallery – and if you take me up on the challenge, you just might win a Two Peas gift certificate for yourself!

What comes to mind first when you hear the term “woodgrain?”  I’ll admit, for me it was the paneling we had in our basement when I was a little girl.  [Not a pretty picture, really.]  But once I got over that mental image, I have to say that I’ve become enamored with all the woodgrain possibilities for scrapbooking.  So much, in fact, that I dedicated my Monday “Trendspotting” post over on the Create: blog to it this week.  Yep, a post all about woodgrain products!  (Not to be confused with the actual WOOD products available right now that I am loving equally as much!)

You can check out my ode to woodgrain HERE.  Or you can check out some of my favorite woodgrain products below (click on the thumbnails for larger images & more information)! :)

echo park blog hop winner…

Thank you so much to everyone who took a moment to leave a comment on my Echo Park blog hop post last week. It was fun to read about your favorite fall treats!

I spent some time baking last Saturday – the first batch (of many, I am sure) of pumpkin chocolate chip cookies.  This is definitely my favorite treat every Autumn (as you can tell by the well-loved recipe card…I copied my mom’s recipe when I went off to college and I have pulled out his recipe card every single year since – it just wouldn’t be fall without these cookies!)

The lucky winner of any current Echo Park collection of her choice is:

That card is too cute! My fav fall treat is definitely warm apple pie!

Congrats, Meghann! Please e-mail me with your mailing address and the collection you would like to receive! I’ll pass your info. along to the nice folks at Echo Park who make these great giveaways possible!

Have a great Monday! :)

september gardeners’ digest {two peas blog hop}…

Good morning! Welcome to the September edition of the Gardners’ Digest, a monthly update from the Garden Girls, the design team at Two Peas in a Bucket.

If you’re following along from the beginning, you should have just arrived from Lynn’s fun blog…if you’re just joining us, welcome – either way – enjoy the hop!!freshfromthegarden

Here’s a look at one of my layouts that went up in the garden recently as part of our “Fall” theme.

I think it’s safe to say Autumn is my favorite season…I just love the crisp cool air, the scent of pumpkin and spice, and the idea of curling up in a soft warm blanket with a cup of hot apple cider.  And the colors.  Don’t forget the colors – LOVE them!

All of these products worked together perfectly to highlight these photos of my kiddos taken in the Autumn leaves.

I love when several manufacturers’ collections work so perfectly together as was the case here. (to see more about the products I used, please click here to visit the layout gallery).

As I mentioned, I love autumn, so I found myself being inspired over and over by all of the projects created by my design team members for the Fall project gallery.  Be sure to check it out here!

Are you sensing a theme here yet?  Since I can’t get Autumn off my brain, how about if I share a handful of my favorite Autumn products?  Here are a few:

giveaway_yayAnd now I’m going to leave the theme a bit.  Well, actually, not as much as you might think.  I mentioned that the scents of Autumn (to me, at least) are pumpkin and spice.  Autumn is also the season when I really get anxious to bake goodies and treats.  So…I have a fun little scrapbook kit from Echo Park Paper Company called “Grandma’s Kitchen” that I’d love to share with one of you! (You can see a couple of projects I created using this kit right here.)

If you’d like a chance to win this fun mini kit, just leave a comment below and tell me..What’s your favorite Autumn themed product?  I’d love to hear from you!  And if you “follow” my blog, leave a separate comment for another chance to win!

Thanks for stopping by – now you can hop on over and visit the lovely and talented Shimelle!   Come back soon! :)
