lily bee design team blog hop | a bunny garland tutorial…

Hi there, Lily Bee fans! Welcome to my blog!!6a014e86b0613b970d017ee41c06bc970d-800wi

Our blog hop continues with this week's theme of Spring / Easter projects! I wanted to share the bunny garland I created to hang on our mantle this year:

Wendy Sue Anderson - Bunny Garland

It was so easy to make – here’s how I did it:

1.  I cut several bunny shapes with my Silhouette Cameo (if you don’t already have one…you really NEED one!  You can purchase one here or here (where they are $30 OFF right now! – you’re welcome! ;).  The sweet bunny shape is from the silhouette store.  For each bunny I punched three 1” circles from patterned paper.  By the way, all of the paper I used for this project is part of the Pinwheel Collection by Lily Bee. :)

2.  I used a soft gray ink (attic dust by Prima) to ink the edges of every piece.

3.  Stack the three circles and place on the bunny bum.  Add a staple to the center(ish)…it doesn’t have to be perfectly centered.

4.  Fold the circles up toward the center and then fan them out to make a puffy tail.

5.  Use a 1/16” hole punch to add holes to each ear.  String baker’s twine through each ear (I used a flosser as a “needle”).

6. Add all of the bunnies onto the twine and hang them up!

I know…it’s so simple…but it looks so cute hanging above our fireplace.  Even the kids could make this – make it a family activity! :)

washi, washi, washi | what I used…

Earlier this week I shared a blog post/tutorial over on shimelle.com

04

I’ve had several e-mail inquiries about the washi tapes I used on my layout.

01

I thought there might be more of you wondering about the sources for the tapes I used, so….here you go (click on the picture to purchase)!

Red Ruler, Blue Chevron, and Gears Washi Tape by Echo Park Paper Co.

Yellow Chevron Designer Tape by Bella Blvd.

Blueberry Gingham Washi Tape by Doodlebug Design

Bumblebee Swiss Dot Washi Tape by Doodlebug Design

Daily Flashback Washi Tape by KI Memories

Woodgrain Washi Tape by Freckled Fawn

And here’s the “wide” version of the same fun woodgrain tape:

Unfortunately, I can’t find a link to the green washi tape I used on my layout (it was from American Crafts), but this one is a close match:

That’s all of them!  Let me know if you have any other questions. :)

two fun projects to share today…

Happy Tuesday, friends!  The sun is shining this morning and the sky is a beautiful shade of blue. I’ve already baked muffins AND banana bread, the house is clean AND I have two fun projects to share with you – it’s a great day already! :)

First up, I am guest posting on Shimelle’s lovely blog today.  I was so thrilled to receive an invitation to create a tutorial to share with her readers – and mine! – and I am excited to share a little peek with you today.

detail1

My tutorial is all about washi tape – yay!  I created two separate frames (completely different styles) and layered them together on one layout for a fun look.

detail2

Then I went crazy with lots of fun elements.  Can you believe I created an entire layout without one speck of patterned paper?!?  Of course, there are plenty of other patterned elements – but not a trace of patterned paper – small miracle! ;)

I was happy with the result – I hope you take a minute to check out the tutorial (here)  - and please let me know if you try it out – I’d love to see your take!

detail3

And speaking of “your take” I’d love to see your take on today’s sketch over on the Lily Bee blog!

LB 3:26 Sketch

I created a layout about Easter last year…but it’s not what you’d expect for an Easter Morning layout.

wendysue_sketch_layout_detail3_march26

The colors are really non-traditional…but it was a non-traditional Easter since we were all super sick all weekend.

You can see my layout – along with my fellow design-team member’s layouts HERE!

And I’d love to see your take on Patricia’s fun sketch…and if you take the challenge, be sure to share your layout for a chance to win a fun prize (details are here)!

Happy Tuesday! :)

good stuff…

Good Monday morning!  I just wanted to pop in really quickly to share a card with you today!  I shared this card, along with a sketch challenge, on the Echo Park blog last month and I just realized I hadn’t shared it here yet!  So…here it is:

wendysue_scoot_card1_cropped

I used my new favorite Echo Park Collection to create this card:  Scoot!

You can see the sketch HERE on the Echo Park Blog.

The journaling cards and stickers make it easy to create fun little cards like this!

In addition to the SCOOT collection, I used one of my favorite little tools, the tiny attacher:

And it seems like I still can’t create anything without adding some baker’s twine somewhere – I just love the little pop of color and bit of texture it adds.  This time I used orange divine twine:

If you decide to use this sketch for a card, I would LOVE to see it – please share a link in the comments!

Happy Monday! :)

frozen & fruity & fun…

I think my kids believe the best kind of fruit comes in syrup form – ready to pour over shaved ice in the summertime!  {I won’t say if I agree or not, lol}

wendysue_fruit_stand_layout2

I created this layout with the brand new “Fruit Stand” line by Doodlebug.

Isn’t it fun?!?

wendysue_fruit_stand_layout_detail4

I love these little fruit doodlepops!

wendysue_fruit_stand_layout_detail7

And the stickers are so bright and colorful!

wendysue_fruit_stand_layout_detail6

And don’t forget to check out the 4x6 album inserts – I used parts of those for my title blocks!

wendysue_fruit_stand_layout_detail5

You can see lots of fun projects on the Doodlebug Blog this week – all featuring Fruit Stand! :)

laughing and playing…

Today I wanted to share a layout I created and shared on the Pebbles blog a few weeks ago!

wendysue_love_you_more_layout

This colorful line was perfect for scrapbooking some colorful photos from a neighborhood summer party! I love these photos of my two little guys bouncing down the blow-up slide.

(I cut the title with my Silhouette Cameo – my favorite digital die-cutting machine!)

wendysue_love_you_more_layout_detail1

These fun moments were actually captured on my camera by Josh – who was 11 at the time…as he asked to take my camera while he followed the little boys around the park while they played.  That connection makes me love the photos even more!

wendysue_love_you_more_layout_detail2

I love all of the playful and colorful designs in this collection, but the “you are awesome” printed paper is my favorite and it’s one I will use over and over… because I know lots of awesome people! ;)
