in case you're checking...

...I always love to see updates on the blogs I check every day...so even though I don't have much to say, I thought I'd post and share another layout. :o)

It's raining -- I am sitting here with my window open and it smells SOOOO good!!
We're headed to back-to-school night soon...I can't believe summer is over already!!
I'm trying to decide on a quote or saying to get cut in vinyl to hang above the mirror in my hallway -- any fun suggestions?

beautiful...

...isn't she?

And speaking of beautiful...today would have been my Grandma Nye's birthday (well, technically, I guess it still IS her birthday). She passed away when I was pregnant with Meagan. She would be 92 this year (I think). I have so many good memories of Grandma...so many things that remind me of her...so many things I don't want to ever forget...

  • homemade chili and scones - and the way her house smelled when we walked through the front door to join her and Grandpa for dinner

  • singing and humming and dancing

  • making up funny little poems and songs

  • one night when she stayed at our house when mom & dad went out of town she stood by my bunk bed and tickled my face...then told me a story about a little girl running through the tall green grass on a beautiful hillside (I wish I could remember if she was making up a story or telling me about when she was a little girl)

  • puffed rice balls on Halloween

  • cake with coins inside (wrapped in wax paper)

  • buttons

  • handwritten notes in birthday cards (which also included a few dollars)
  • soda crackers with honey

  • laundry in her back seat...because she did her laundry at the laundromat - her car smelled good...like clean clothes!

  • talking on the telephone

  • being in the mountains...

  • clotheslines

  • playing "hide the cup"

  • the way she always made each grandchild feel like they were important...and probably her favorite :o)

  • Her smile (she always had one on)

  • Her faith and testimony

ten project Tuesday...

Instead of a post that's a mile long, full of text, I thought I'd share ten different projects I haven't shared before.

This is a sample I created for the Making Memories catalog featuring the new mini albums for Halloween:These two layouts are in the new CK idea book featuring 4x6 photos -- which is what these started out as...then I cropped them down
These are a few cards I've created in the last little while:

And a couple of 6x6 samples for Making Memories using the new Noteworthy line:

and an ornament we ended up NOT using for the Holiday idea book:

(ETA: I just realized one of my cards was a "repeat share" so I switched it out...hopefully everything else is new for my blog!)

ten things I did on Tuesday...

Yesterday was busy...but GOOD busy...definitely GOOD busy. Here's a quick list of 10 things I did:

1. Took Meagan to piano lessons (but first we stopped at McDonalds to pick up breakfast and a couple of DVD's - the boys and I sat in the van and ate and watched TMNT while Meagan was in her lesson.)

2. Went to Provo to run errands (had to return some things and pick up the kids pictures from last week.)

3. Went to FIVE - yes FIVE different stores looking for a copy of Eclipse, which was released yesterday. We were in Provo by 11:00 am, people...and EVERYPLACE was SOLD OUT!!! Sheesh, Stephenie Meyer has got to be one happy woman right now! Hopefully I'll be able to find a copy in the next week or two.

4. Speaking of "finding a copy," when I was organizing the baskets in our entertainment unit I found a video called "Mary Kate and Ashley's Fashion Show." Something the kids had borrowed from the library a few weeks ago. I thought we had returned it already. Oh, how I wish we had. We ran to the library only to hear this, "That will be $19 please." Whaaaaaaaaaaat? Never mind the hundreds of books and videos we've returned on time in the last two months. Apparently there is no negotiating with the HAPPY old women who work at the library. I bet the stupid video didn't even cost that much in the fist place. Oh well. Maybe they'll use my $19 to buy a good book I can borrow and return ON TIME. Maybe they can find a copy of Eclipse. Probably not for another year or so. okay, rant over.

5. Oh, one more fun thing I was able to deal with yesterday was spilled milk. No, I didn't cry over it....but when we got home from Provo to realize the box of milk from Costco had tipped over onto it's side, and one of the gallons was completely empty - and spilled all over the back of the van, I was not a happy camper. I cleaned it up as good as I could...but I'm afraid what the van is going to smell like when I go out there today.

6. Did I mention I stopped at Michael's and picked up a cute little bucket (on clearance) and finally bought my first Martha Stewart product - a cute little butterfly punch - can't wait to play with that one!

7. I finished up an assignment for Making Memories - did most of it on Monday, but it felt good to put the finishing touches on and submit it for approval yesterday (one whole day before it was actually due - which rarely happens).

8. I went out on an actual DATE with my husband. Dinner and a Movie. I honestly do not remember the last time we did this. We went out to dinner on my birthday in 2004...and that's the last time we went anywhere without the kids - but dinner and a movie - I honestly don't remember. Anyway, the kids had a great time with the babysitter and Brad and I had a great time eating a meal without being climbed on, having a conversation without being interrupted, and watching an entire movie without having to run out to take a potty break or a buy treats for the kids. Seriously - it was a wonderful 3 1/2 hours. Totally worth the fortune we had to fork out (between the sitter, and the date).

9. We saw the new "Bourne" movie....is it the Bourne Ultimatum...something like that. Good, good, good movie. Intense. Really enjoyed it!! (I think it may have been senior night at the theater last night - there were sooooo many older couples there - and it was funny before the movie started how a couple would walk in and see another couple and they'd be excited and walk over and visit before sitting down to enjoy their red vines and soda together before the movie even started. It made me smile.

10. I even got a kiss on my doorstep! Brad and I were joking about how weird it seemed to be on a date and I decided I needed a kiss before I opened the door and stepped back into my real life again. It really was wonderful to spend time together, just as a couple, and I can't wait to do it again. Although next time I'm thinking a board game and a shake and a drive up the canyon or something like that will be nice. :o)

quick projects...

I haven't shared as many projects on my blog as I'd like...so I thought I'd share a few today.
Have you tried the new tag curler from Making Memores? I really love the new epoxy tags...These were some fun little Valentine's Day treats/gifts I made for an assignment. We actually ended up changing out the papers and embellishments to make them into Birthday party favors. They were in Parent's Magazine early this summer (sorry, not sure which issue)...
Are you ready for a Christmas idea? These are little ornaments I made to hang on the tree. I made paper beads with some of last year's Making Memories Holiday papers (so sad these are discontinued...but the new line is going to be fun too)...

Here's a non-traditional Valentine's day card I put together using up some things that were in the corner of my desk one day... (the white is the outside of the card - the black on the very outside edges is just a piece of cardstock I put behind the card to take the photo.)And one last card...

Enough stalling...now I better get back to work...

stuff to share...

It's been a very productive week...here are a few things we accomplished:

*Took the kids to Provo to have a photo taken -- I purchased a membership to a "kids club" type thingy at Photogenix several years ago. We've only had 2 photos taken (of the 8, or was it 10) for the free 8x10. It expires in a few months, so I felt like I better get on the ball and use up some of the sittings.

*Entered the kid's projects (and a couple of my own photos) in the County Fair. The kids did GREAT - scored some ribbons even. I'll have to take pictures of them to share. I even received two ribbons...kind of fun. ;)

*Brad finished a BUNCH of things that have been on his "honey do" list. Here are a few: Purchased and installed a clothesline (I am pathetically excited about this), Hung a mirror and another decorative item I've been waiting for him to hang, Installed two new light fixtures, installed my broom/mop holder and my ironing board holder.

*I was busy with work -- created several small 6x6 samples for packaging of new products for Making Memories -- VERY fun products will be debuting in the winter!

*One of my layouts was on the Making Memories blog last week...for the travel challenge. I actually created the layout back in June, but it went up this week:
*Oh, I also received my designer copies of "Scrapbooking with your kids" and the "4x6 photos" special issue by CK ... can't wait to devour those!!
*I finished a ton of cards this week - I'll share those soon.
*Lots to do today...work, house stuff, parade, and more! So I'm off...
