a day of firsts...

*first day of school
*first time Josh woke up BEFORE the alarm went off, ever (okay, except for maybe Christmas Day)
*first time riding a bus to school
*first day of "all day" school for Josh
*first time I didn't drive to the school and walk the kids to their classes on the first day
*first day Meagan was more excited than nervous (she's always excited, but usually VERY nervous too) - no tummy aches this morning, hooray!
*first time I found myself missing them a lot (which I didn't think I would do already), by 10:00 this morning...only an hour after school started I was watching the clock, sheesh!
*first time I'm looking forward to seeing the bus coming down our street so I can take pictures of them getting off of it!

going in circles...

It seems that for the last several days I've been in a whirlwind of sorts. I've been busy constantly, running errands, getting the kids ready for school (which starts next week), working on several projects (some that have proven to be more challenging and time-consuming than I expected when I accepted the assignments - but fun, nonetheless), trying to paint our new house, buying things for the new house, changing addresses everywhere, and still trying to just be a mom, etc. etc. etc. And yet, there is so much left to do...and when I look behind me, it seems that I haven't done enough. It seems like I'm running at full speed, but I must be going in circles because I'm really not going anywhere! ugh!

And so, in honor of my circular feelings, a layout:
So here's hoping for finish lines today...no more circles...I've gotta get something FINISHED!!

{temporarily removed layout...coming soon to an idea book near you! :) }

6x6...

A lot of the work I get to do for Making Memories involves samples for packaging, catalogs, and the show booth. A good portion of these samples are created on a small 6" x 6" page. I love creating these little gems -- plenty of room for a photo, a little journaling, and extra "stuff" to make it all fun! Here are a couple of my faves from recent product releases:

it's official...

...he's a thumb-sucker!
Meagan was one...but Josh and Seth were not. Meagan quit sucking her thumb when we took her bottle away
(I guess she just figured if she couldn't have one, she didn't need the other either),
so hopefully he'll quit as easily as she did.
[For now, though, I think it's just too cute!]
Earlier today, I received an e-mail from one of the editors at Creating Keepsakes letting me know that a layout I created for an online article is up on their website. If you're interested, you can check out the rest of the article by clicking here...my layout is at the end of the article, on page 4.

lucky charms...

he'll take his DRY and with a FORK please...

Family Reunion...

We spent Saturday afternoon at a reunion with Brad's family...always lots of fun! There are getting to be so many little kids, it's fun to watch them play together. It's neat that the little kids (most of which are actually children of Brad's nieces and nephews) are getting to know each other a bit - and they look forward to playing together...even though they only see each other once or twice a year. It was great to catch up with everyone and see how much all the kids have grown. We missed Alan & Jana (who were traveling) and Melanie & Bryan (who were hanging out at the hospital since Melanie had her appendix removed the night before the reunion) -- looking forward to seeing the whole gang again in December! :)

speaking of keys...

I think old Ben Franklin would be proud of these two...

Finally...

It's crazy to think how long this process has taken. Dang fire!!! But we finally got the keys to our new house today. Now, if we could only be excited about it. We have a lot of work to do...paint, carpet, kitchen cabinets, appliances, etc. There are several things that really should have been taken care of by the previous owner - because I am pretty sure the insurance company would have given him money for things that he did not do...um, like NEW door knobs in the garage - where the fire started! Instead, he opted to attempt to clean some things and do some things himself (ahem.paint.ahem.crappy.job.ahem). It is now painfully obvious what a dishonest person he was...but at this point we're just happy to have the keys. It's ours...we'll paint. We'll buy new carpet. We'll take out his ugly cabinets. We'll make it ours. :o) LOTS of work ahead of us, but when it's done, it will be nice. We'll probably only be here for a few years...but there's plenty of space for our family of six until we move again. Some other fun things happened this week...

*Seth's post op check up was Monday, and everything looked great
*Started (and almost finished) school clothes shopping for Meagan and Josh
*I won a copy of "The Shaggy Dog" from my fave morning TV show (Good Things Utah)
*I finished up a big project and started on another one (work-related stuff)
*We bought patio furniture for the new house
*I got my copy of "Creating Keepsakes - The Ultimate Guide to Photo Keepsakes" and now I have tons of fun ideas floating around in my head that I want to try
*I also received the magnet board I created for the above mentioned book...unfortunately it didn't travel so well and the sides are broken - hoping Brad can fix it for me so we can hang it in my new kitchen
*This little sweetie turned 7 months old
*And we're looking forward to a little family reunion tomorrow! And hopefully a little shopping afterwards (think furniture and appliances)!

Oh...and one more thing...have you ever listened to two 2 1/2 year olds having a serious conversation with each other? I love listening to these two...I just can't help but smile!
Have a great weekend!!
